Here are our selections for Sunday 11th February’s Accumulator Tips:
Manchester United have come under intense scrutiny after their erratic form over the Christmas period, however six wins from seven in the new year have helped silence their critics.
The Red Devils square off against a Newcastle United sitting perilously close to the relegation zone once again. The Magpies suffered a crushing 4-1 defeat when these two meet at Old Trafford in November, despite taking a 1-0 lead.
While Rafa Benitez’s men have only lost once in five Premier League contests, they have only picked up six points from a possible 15 in fixtures against Stoke, Swansea, Crystal Palace and Burnley. A perennial issue for Sunday’s hosts has been a lack of firepower, and the absence of summer acquisition Joselu and January loan signing Islam Slimani won’t help here.
Newcastle have a torrid record against top four sides thus far, carrying a dreadful record of D1, L6 in their seven games this season, while also holding the worst home record in the Premier League. Jose Mourinho’s visitors have earned 13 out of a possible 18 points away at bottom half sides already this campaign.
United added Alexis Sanchez to their wealth of talents in January and the Chilean has a marvellous record in the top tier. Paul Pogba is likely to return from his rest against Huddersfield, while Romelu Lukaku may well have found his shooting boots again after netting at Old Trafford last time out. Ultimately, the newly-promoted Championship outfit probably don’t have the quality to contain or defeat Mourinho’s men and we can see the away side picking them off over 90 minutes.
Back Manchester United to condemn Newcastle to another miserable home loss at a price of 4/6 with 888sport.
Nantes began their Ligue 1 campaign magnificently under former Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri, prompting many journalists and football fans to question whether he could ‘do the impossible’ with another club. Unfortunately, the Canaries saw their soaring start tail off slightly, though they remain in contention for European football.
In the early stages of the campaign, they gained a reputation for keeping things tight and narrowly edging close contests. Essentially, they were a boring yet effective side. Gradually, that gameplan backfired slightly with plenty of low scoring contests going against them.
Consecutive home losses to PSG and Bordeaux have resulted in bookmakers rapidly losing faith in Nantes, allowing their price to drift ahead of Sunday’s clash with Lille. We see real value in backing the Canaries to return to form here, however.
Sunday’s visitors are sitting in 18th place in Ligue 1 at present, 12 points behind the home side and with one win in five under new boss Christophe Galtier. His side have an away record of W3, D1, L8 this campaign and will travel without key defenders Kevin Malcuit and Adama Soumaoro.
Before Nantes’s brief slump hosting two of the league’s most in-form sides, the hosts possessed a record of W6, D1, L2 at La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau, with the three failures coming against fellow top 10 sides. Lille are struggling to score goals with just eight in 12 on their travels, while Nantes have let in just seven in 11 on home soil.
We can see Claudio Ranieri’s Nantes getting their impressive league campaign back on track at 17/20 with Betfair.
Sampdoria are quietly pushing towards a possible Champions League qualification spot in Serie A, buoyed by their exceptional home performances and limited by their limp away results.
Marco Giampaolo will be delighted with the fixture list as they remain at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris with struggling Verona visiting this Sunday. The 19th placed side have been chalked up at a huge 6/1 to come out victorious this weekend and very few will question the logic of bookmakers.
Verona have taken just nine points of a possible 33 on the road this campaign, taking just one point from 18 against top-half teams. Verona also failed to score in those five losses at top half sides, averaging over three goals conceded in those matches.
Conversely, Sampdoria have been dominant on home territory with a record only Juventus can better. La Samp have garnered a tally of W8, D2, L2 thus far, picking up 15 of an available 18 against bottom-half teams – a statistic that further highlights how impressive they’ve fared against the better sides.
The hosts are currently scoring over two goals per game in home contests on average and it’s hard to see Verona limiting the influential talents of Lucas Torreira, Duvan Zapata, Dawid Kownacki, Gianluca Caprari and the evergreen Fabio Quagliarella.
Back Sampdoria to continue their outstanding home form at 4/9 with 888sport
