Cricket Betting Markets
Cricket can often be perceived as a complex sport, but when it comes to betting it’s relatively simple.
You’ll find many markets that are familiar in other sports, while even despite the many variations of cricket, most markets remain the same.
Among the more popular markets are:
- Match Result: This is a bet on a team to win the game.
- Top Run Scorer: Player to score the most runs in a game.
- Top Wicket Taker: Player to take the most wickets in a game.
- Total Runs: The total number of runs scored in a game, usually in over/under format.
- Total Sixes: The total number of sixes hit in a game, usually in over/under format.
- Highest opening partnership: The team whose opening pair score the most runs together.
You will also often be able to break down your bets by innings for test matches, and will find you can bet on the team to score the highest first innings total, for example.
Cricket Formats
They types of cricket match you can bet on varies, with three main recognised formats of the game. These are:
Test Match/First Class Cricket
This is the more traditional form of the game and is played across five days (four days in the County Championship). Teams both bat two innings and the team with the most runs wins. A draw is given if there is no result by the end of the allotted days.
Competitions include:
- International Test Series
- The Ashes
- County Championship
- Sheffield Shield (Australia)
One Day Cricket
One day cricket is a limited overs format that sees sides get 50 overs (in some cases 40) to score as many runs/bowl a team out.
You’ll find many competitions around the world, with the most common being:
- ODI World Cup
- International ODI Series
- Royal London One Day Cup
- Marsh One Day Cup (Australia)
T20 Cricket
T20 cricket has become hugely popular since its inception, with dozens of huge tournaments all over the world.
Both sides play 20 overs each and it’s a more fast and furious game with big hitting and plenty of boundaries.
The major tournaments in T20 are:
- T20 World Cup
- Vitality T20 Blast
- Indian Premier League
- Australian Big Bash
- Caribbean Premier League
In Britain The Hundred has also been given the green light and will begin in 2021. This is a similar format to T20 but each team will face only 100 balls each.
Cricket Betting Tips
We’re always on the lookout for the best cricket betting tips and we take into account a number of factors before delivering you with them.
Our team do a large amount of analysis before recommending cricket bets, considering:
- Form: Form in cricket can be as important as form in any other sport.
- Player Form: A batsman in good knick, or a bowler taking wickets can really turn a game on its head.
- Venue: The pitch and size of a pitch can hugely benefit or hamper a side. Some wickets suit strong bowling attacks, others suit the batsmen.
- Injuries & Suspensions: Players ruled out of games can be influential in a fixture.
- Format: Some sides are better at short form cricket, while others are stronger suited to longer form.
