Accumulator Tips for Saturday 14/10/17

Following a two week absence, club football returns to our screens on Saturday with a full card of teams from all over Europe in action, including all four top tiers in England. The Acca Tips team have located what we believe to be fantastic value in our football tips for today, finding one strong Championship selection and two superb League One picks.

Here are our selections for this Saturday’s Accumulator Tips treble:

97230828 leedsBack Leeds to beat Reading – 4/5 with William Hill

Leeds United fans will almost certainly claim that the international break came at the ideal time for their side after witnessing back-to-back losses against fellow promotion hopefuls Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday. With three losses from their last four matches all coming away from home, Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen will be delighted to return to Elland Road on Saturday.

The weekend’s visitors are last season’s unsuccessful play-off finalists Reading, who have severely struggled in the opening two months of this campaign. Manager Jaap Stam is under immense pressure from the board as the Royals sit in 20th with just two wins from 10 at the time of writing. Stam has seen his side take just two points from their last five league matches, including losses to Norwich, Millwall and Bristol City.

Away from home, Reading have a poor record of one win, one draw and three losses in the league so far and their away results against top 12 sides last season makes for grim reading. In their 11 games away at top half teams, Reading unbelievably lost nine of those matches, only taking points from Sheffield Wednesday and 12th placed Cardiff. Leeds defeated Jaap Stam’s side 2-0 at Elland Road last season and we believe they’re a stronger side against a weaker outfit this time around.

Reading have earned the fourth worst goal tally in the league with just nine goals in 10 matches and the absence of Yann Kermorgant will make Saturday’s trip that bit harder. Leeds are unbeaten in home league matches thus far, winning their last three in a row with 10 goals scored and a measly two conceded. The Whites won 14 of their 23 home league matches last season and truthfully look a better, more balanced side this season. Defensive stalwart Pontus Jansson looks set to return to the Leeds defence while Christiansen’s attacking depth could well be the best in the league.

This contest is essentially one of the best home sides in the league against one of the worst away sides. It’s a no brainer here! Take 4/5 on offer for Leeds to be victorious in your William Hill accumulator.

PoshmateBack Peterborough to beat Gillingham – 11/20 with William Hill

Our second selection comes from the third tier, where fifth placed Peterborough are attempting to return to winnings way with the visit of Gillingham. Posh boss Grant McCann will have been dismayed to see his side take no points from their last two matches after defeating league favourites Wigan just three weeks ago. The visit of a Gillingham side without an away league win since March should raise his spirits, however.

The Gills made the decision to sack boss Adrian Pennock following their 1-0 loss to Blackburn a fortnight ago, though their performance under caretaker boss Peter Taylor last weekend offered very little in terms of hope. Against Portsmouth, Gillingham couldn’t even muster up a shot on target in their 1-0 loss and one measly goal in their last five league games further highlights the problems. Six goals scored in twice as many matches is the second worst tally in League One and just one scored in six away games makes for grim reading ahead of their trip to Peterborough.

Posh are the joint-second highest scorers in the league right now, taking 12 points from 18 and four wins from six in their home league matches. McCann’s team have won both of their home matches against bottom half sides, defeating Plymouth and MK Dons while Gillingham’s only two points away points came against 17th placed Doncaster and 21st placed AFC Wimbledon. The visitors have a real lack of quality and identity in their ranks as opposed to Posh’s clear attack-minded, possession orientated approach and it’s really hard to see them staying afloat on Saturday.

Take the 11/20 for Peterborough to find their rhythm with a win over struggling Gillingham, with William Hill cash out available..

Back Wigan to beat Southend – 8/15 with Ladbrokes

Our final pick takes us to the DW Stadium, where Wigan host Phil Brown’s Southend. We’ve actually backed the Latics in their previous two home encounters where they’ve got the job done and we’re confident of the treble being achieved on Saturday. Paul Cook’s side are now as short as 1/1 to win League One with bookmakers clearly impressed and it’s pretty understandable.

Cook’s new side have only dropped points in three of their 12 league matches thus far, sitting two points behind unbeaten Shrewsbury as it stands. In home comforts, Wigan have already won six of their seven matches in all competitions, defeating four bottom half sides from five in the process. Southend currently sit in 15th place heading into the next gameweek, possessing the sixth worst away record in League One. The Shrimpers had seen a strong upturn in form in the not-so-distant-past, defeating Fleetwood, Wimbledon and Blackpool in the space of a week before succumbing to a dreadful 4-1 loss at Doncaster last weekend.

With away losses to current top six sides Shrewsbury, Rotherham and Charlton already, it appears unlikely that Southend are up to the task of taking any of the spoils from Wigan, who are arguably better than all three of those teams. Back Paul Cook’s Wigan Athletic to continue their powerful start to life in League One with a win at 8/15 in your Ladbrokes accumulator.

Our super Saturday treble of Leeds, Peterborough and Wigan offers odds of 33/10 with William Hill at the time of writing. A £20 stake could earn you winnings of £86 if successful.
