Crystal Palace v Manchester United Betting Tips and Predictions

Louis-van-gaal2Crystal Palace and Manchester United meet in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday evening, in a game that may see United coming out on top in typically unconvincing fashion. Palace have fallen short the Red Devils for decades, and are major underdogs going into this weekend’s outing.

Crystal Palace bested a tough run of Premier League opposition to make it to the FA Cup final this season. Alan Pardew’s men beat the likes of Southampton, Stoke City, Tottenham Hotspur, Championship side Reading, and Watford in the semi-finals so they have proven to be no slouches in the competition. Palace’s Premier League form has suffered in 2016, however, with the Eagles picking up just two wins this year, but their FA Cup campaign has seen an upturn in results.

Nevertheless, the Londoners are still underdogs ahead of Saturday’s final. Manchester United have taken four points from the Eagles in their two Premier League meetings this season, and are coming off the back of much better form that that of their opponents. Louis van Gaal’s side have won three of their last five league games ahead of their cup final with Palace, and dispatched of West Ham United and Everton in the quarter-final and semi-final respectively to make it this far.

United boast a long-standing record over Crystal Palace, but ironically their last defeat to the Eagles was in a cup competition in 2011 (Capital One Cup fifth round). Manchester United will boast a strong side to face the Londoners at Wembley, and will be determined to come out on top to salvage some pride. It’s been 12 years since the Red Devils won the FA Cup, but their superior recent form to that of the inconsistent Eagles could be the difference.

Manchester United beat Crystal Palace only last month in the Premier League, and have been in far better shape than that of the Eagles in recent weeks. As a result, Betway are giving odds of 4/5 for Man United to win against Crystal Palace in 90 minutes, although this clash going to extra time is possible. This weekend’s final is sure to be a tight affair with how frequently United reach half-time without scoring or conceding, while Palace will be looking to keep the favourites at bay in the opening 45 minutes.

William Hill are giving odds of 13/8 for 0-0 to be the halftime score, and Bet 365 are giving odds of 8/13 for Total Goals Under 2.5. Manchester United striker Anthony Martial scored the winner against Everton in the FA Cup semi-final, and William Hill are giving odds of 9/4 for Martial to score anytime in the final.
