Leicester City v Arsenal Betting Tips and Predictions

Last season’s top two will square off at The King Power in Saturday’s late Premier League fixture and Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, will be typically sour faced at the prospect of playing against two players he perhaps should’ve worked harder to prise away from Leicester – Mahrez and Vardy.

Transfer sagas uRiyad Mahrez to Arsenalsually last all summer before their disappointing conclusions but Wenger has truly outdone himself this time around with both Vardy and Mahrez signing new deals at Leicester after Arsenal put in derisory bids. To compound the misery for Gunners fans, Arsenal slipped to defeat against Liverpool last week in a seven goal thriller that saw new signing Granit Xhaka concede more fouls than any other player in Premier League history on their debut – great work Arsene.

Leicester City also lost their opening fixture as the skeleton crew of Hull City won 2-1 last Friday against the champions. Claudio Ranieri was full of praise for his players and offered his congratulations to Mike Phelan for seeing off his team but there is clearly work to do for his side if they are to beat last year’s runners up. Something of a disappointing league debut for Nampalys Mendy shows City will miss N’Golo Kante more than they first thought – hopefully the holding midfielder can grow in to the role.

City are in an excellent position as far as their squad is concerned; Mahrez signing his new deal will boost their confidence and they are only without the suspended Robert Huth going in to the fixture – Huth should return for their next fixture as Hernandez is set to continue as a make shift centre back for the time being.

Arsenal aren’t quite as fortunate as City; Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out for a month and Alex Iwobi also suffered an injury in the opening match along with the Gunners progressively worsening defensive crisis. Mertesacker, Paulista and Koscielny are all out of the fixture as it stands, the Frenchman could be rushed back after his extended break but it would be a serious risk by Wenger.

Arsenal were the only side to do the double over Leicester last season as they claimed a 5-2 victory away and struck late at home to win 2-1. Leicester haven’t beaten Arsenal in 19 matches – the joint longest active run in the top flight; could now be the time for the Foxes?

SkyBet see the game as Arsenals to lose as Leicester to win is offered at 9/5, a draw is 5/2 and Arsenal to win is 7/5. Slim odds all round but Arsenal just tip the favourites scale – presumably based on the history of the fixture instead of the current injury crisis.

Prolific hitman Jamie Vardy will be keen to open his Premier League account this weekend and Vardy to score in 90 minutes and Leicester to win is 9/2 – a boosted price on SkyBet from 100/30 and entirely possible as Vardy’s pace will no doubt cause issues for Arsenal’s inexperienced centre back pairing.

After last weekend’s goal fest, Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez both to score at 9/1 is also very possible. Keen on the odds but it will be down to Sanchez to recapture his form – he looked a little out of sorts last weekend but if he’s on his game, he is unstoppable.
