Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips and Preview

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur lock horns in the International Champions Cup at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday evening. It’s a game that might have some extra bite given the two sides’ goal-laden results in pre-season and the inevitably bad reception Kyle Walker will receive from Tottenham supporters after leaving for City. We at Accumulator Tips have picked out two key bets for the game.

Manchester City have been hot and cold in the International Champions Cup, losing their first game to fierce rivals Manchester United before impressively putting four past La Liga and Champions League winners Real Madrid. The Sky Blues have an incredible strong squad but are still weak in the centre of defence which could mean their focus is to purely outscore the opposition.

Tottenham form in the tournament has somewhat mirrored that of City’s, winning their opener against Paris Saint-Germain but losing to AS Roma. Spurs have scored six goals in their last two games, conceding four, and a Manchester City side that have scored four and conceded three in their previous too are likely to play out a goal-laden affair.

Tottenham have gone behind in both games in the International Champions Cup this summer. The Londoners conceded six minutes into Sunday’s clash with Paris Saint-Germain and shipped a 13-minute goal to Roma on Wednesday. They’ve only led a game for 18 minutes in pre-season so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Manchester City ahead at the break.

Spurs have shared the goals between the squad as they’ve rotated heavily so far this summer. It may see them disjointed until changes are made mid-game, evident from 66% of their goals coming after 80 minutes. Manchester City haven’t been the best starters either but have momentum on their side after thrashing Real Madrid.

Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Goals are guaranteed between the two clubs, with Tottenham having scored and conceded in each of their last six games in all competitions while Manchester City have scored and conceded in three of their last five. Three of the last four head-to-heads have seen goals at both ends too.

With three of the five goals Tottenham have conceded coming in the first-half, while having failed to go into the break ahead in any International Champions Cup so far, Manchester City could take advantage. They have a stronger squad with dangerous attacking options and will want to start fast to take their opponents by surprise.

Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips

Manchester City are favourites at 5/4 with William Hill, Tottenham Hotspur are 21/10 with Betfair. A draw at full-time is 14/5 with Bet Victor.

With Tottenham having shown to be such slow starters and likely to make more changes to the side for Saturday’s clash, Manchester City are 6/4 with SkyBet to lead at half-time.

There should be goals between the two sides, however, with three of their previous meeting head-to-heads resulting in both sides getting on the scoresheet. As a result, Both Teams to Score is 4/11 with William Hill.
