League Two is all set to be a real barnstomer this season, with some big clubs in the division and a real scrap for promotion. There are big money sides galore with the likes of Stockport County and Salford City looking to take the next step into League One.

Early season we’ll get a sense of just how achievable that is, alongside the other big guns looking to climb the ladder, and the opening weekend always manages to throw up a few surprises.

So, where should you be putting your money this weekend?

Game of the Weekend: Salford City v Mansfield Town

Salford to beat Mansfield at 13/10 with 888sport

Game of the weekend sees Salford take on a Mansfield side who were right up there at the end of the season and narrowly missed out on automatic promotion.

They’ll be keen to go one step further this season and it’ll be a tricky first game of the season for the club owned by the Class of 92. Mansfield are priced at 41/20 with 888sport, with the bookmakers seemingly favouring home advantage in this one. Salford have signed well though and at 13/10 we’re backing that home advantage in what should be the game of the day.

Ones To Watch

There’s plenty happening elsewhere too though as the season gets underway, with every fixture getting underway at 3pm on Saturday. But where else should you be putting your money?

Bradford City v Doncaster Rovers

Bradford to beat Doncaster at 17/20 with 888sport

Bradford could be the team to watch this season under Mark Hughes and they’ll be keen to go for broke and work their way back up the Football League. We see a Yorkshire derby on the opening day and the Bantams are favourites to take this one at 17/20 with 888sport.

Doncaster can be backed at 59/20, in what is certainly a long shot and we could well see a bit of a banker at Valley Parade this weekend.

Tranmere Rovers v Stevenage

Tranmere to beat Stevenage at 9/10 with 888sport

Tranmere finished just outside the play-offs last season and will be keen to be there or thereabouts this season. They take on a Stevenage side who narrowly avoided relegation and they’re big favourites to kick off their campaign with three points.

We’d back them to do so at 9/10 with 888sport, and get Prenton Park buoyant ahead of another long and tough season.

Stockport County v Barrow

Stockport to beat Barrow at 8/15 with 888sport

There’s been a significant amount of investment gone into Stockport County over the last few years, but as Salford City have shown, it won’t necessarily get them out of League Two.

We expect a good season from Dave Challinor’s men though, who have invested well in the squad so far this summer. They’re big favourites to get the win at Edgeley Park when they return to Football League action on Saturday, and we’d back them to beat Barrow too at 8/15 with 888sport.
