888bannerBack Cardiff to beat Birmingham – 4/7 with 888sport

Cardiff City cemented their 2nd position in the Championship with a solid 2-1 win over Barnsley on Tuesday, helping Acca Tips to a super winning double.

While Neil Warnock’s side were getting the business done in South Wales, Birmingham were crashing to a sixth successive league loss against Middlesbrough.

The Bluebirds possess remarkably strong form as the season edges to a close, taking 16 points from an available 18. Cardiff have conceded just two goals in the aforementioned six games, possessing the league’s best defensive record on the whole and conceding a league low of just 11 in home contests.

In addition to the best defence in home games, Warnock’s men have also accrued the most home points in the division, taking 42 of a possible 54 with W13, D3, L2.

Birmingham are a stark contrast to everything Cardiff have achieved. While the hosts can soak up pressure and take one of just a few chances on the offensive, Birmingham have scored far and away the fewest goals in the Championship, bagging just 23 in 36 games. Naturally, the Blues also have the worst away record in the league, firing in 12 goals in 18 matches and taking an embarrassing 10 points from 54 on offer.

Cardiff’s record in home games against bottom half sides currently stands at W6, D1 from seven games, which probably inadvertently also summarises their consistency against the league’s better sides. Brum have a travelling record of D3, L6 in their nine outings against top 12 sides, so things really do look bleak for Garry Monk’s men on Saturday afternoon.

Back Cardiff to continue their winning streak at a rather generous 4/7 with 888sport.

betfair 1Back Plymouth Draw No Bet – Fleetwood v Plymouth – 1/1 with Betfair

Under the stewardship of new boss John Sheridan, Fleetwood earned their first point in seven games a fortnight ago against MK Dons. While that result was a definite step forward, the task of in-form Plymouth is a different beast entirely.

The Pilgrims now hold onto a record of W11, D3, L1, joint with Rotherham as the league’s finest form. That run includes six wins on the trot after defeating Bradford last time out, while they’ve also toppled 1st placed Blackburn and 2nd placed Shrewsbury in that period.

Derek Adams deserves serious plaudits for guiding his side to a current position of sixth place, particularly considering the pressure he was under at the start of the campaign. The Pilgrims are far from a one-man team, possessing impact players from multiple angles including goalscoring winger Graham Carey, influential centre back Sonny Bradley and outstanding shot stopper Remi Matthews.

While the team ethic for the Devon outfit must be praised, Fleetwood are a shadow of the play-off contending side they were last term. The Cod Army have yet to win a home league game since way back in October and their 17 point tally earned at Highbury is the worst home record in League One. Seven of their last home league matches have resulted in zero point returns, including three losses from three against top six sides Blackburn, Shrewsbury and Scunthorpe.

Back Plymouth in the Draw No Bet market at odds of 1/1 with Betfair. If Plymouth win, you will be paid out at odds of Evens, while the bet will be void and repaid should the match end in a draw.
