Diego Costa set to return to Atletico Madrid
After what has been a long-winded transfer debacle over Diego Costa’s future, a deal has finally been agreed. Both Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have come to terms on a deal in transferring the striker to the Spanish outfit.
For a number of months now, Diego Costa has fallen out with Blues boss Antonio Conte. He was first linked with a move to China. The Spaniard was later stated saying he was interested in a move back to his old club, Atletico Madrid.
Since his arrival at Chelsea, he has become a real fan favourite. Despite the bad boy reputation he is now considered to be looked upon, Chelsea fans have been thankful for what he has done. Being a consistent goal scorer is one of the reasons why he is seen as one of their best players besides Eden Hazard.
Joining in 2014, Diego Costa has managed to score 52 Premier League goals in 89 appearances. Not a bad record. This includes winning the Premier League in his debut season at Chelsea and also in his previous season. Two titles with the London club would surely mean he would stay on but Antonio Conte has other ideas.

The Spanish forward sees his future with the club he originally had a love for. That is Atletico Madrid. Diego Costa knows how much he is liked by the Spanish club and the fans adore him even more. Purely for what he has produced while playing for Los Colchoneros.
He has played two previous seasons with the Spanish club making 94 La Liga appearances and scoring 33 times. During the 2013/14 season, Costa scored 27 La Liga goals and was considered their best player at the time. With that in mind, it wouldn’t hurt to check out the bookmaker specials for Atletico Madrid this season.
The recent signing of Alvaro Morata by Chelsea pretty much confirmed the future of Diego Costa at the club. With being left out of the squad Diego Costa stated that the club “treated him like a criminal”. Going from their top scorer to not even being included on team sheets in a short period of time finalised his decisions for a move away.
Not being able to make the move until the next transfer window, the 28-year-old will be a sitting duck for a while. He will basically have a few months of not actually having to do anything. A player who helped Chelsea win the Premier League title on two occasions has been left out of their squad when they may possibly need him.
With the deal now in place, it is pretty much not an option for Conte to include Diego Costa in any of his team sheets anymore. You can tell the Brazilian-born Spaniard has had enough and wants to move immediately.
A fresh start with a return to a former club could rekindle Diego Costa’s career. He will be partnering up with new teammates. There will be one familiar face at Atletico that also joined from Chelsea and has played for the Spanish international team. That’s right, Fernando Torres. With the like’s of Antoine Griezmann and Yannick Carrasco, Atletico Madrid will be a very tough side once Diego Costa joins up with them.
