Mario Balotelli linked with shock move to Wolves
No, you’d didn’t read this wrong. Wolves fans could be thinking ‘why always us’ after they’d thought a new manager and new owners were the only big developments of the summer. However, a flurry of recent bets has seen Mario Balotelli’s odds on joining them shift down to 5/2.
The Italian International is more known for his off-the-field antics nowadays, with stories of feeding the homeless and setting off fireworks in bathrooms more notable than his goals. Balotelli may have shown flashes of brilliance at Manchester City when he first arrived on these shores, but since then it’s been one depressing performance after another. His £16 Million move to Liverpool has proved nothing but a disaster and Jürgen Klopp is looking to shift him off the books as quickly as possible.
Last season’s loan move to AC Milan was seen as a chance to re-vitalise the 26 year-old’s career, back in his home nation. After 3 goals in 23 appearances though, it was no surprise that The Rossoneri didn’t make the move permanent. Wolves might make sense for Balotelli. New owners are looking to make a big statement and he would have a fellow countryman in Walter Zenga to work with. A player who has scored in The Premier League, Champions League and at International level would surely be able to bag goals at Championship level too wouldn’t he?
Liverpool have gone beyond the point of caring you feel. Having touted him around all summer, there’s a belief at Anfield that they will offer to pay up Balotelli’s contract if no suitors come calling as they simply want him gone. If Wolves will take on the players wages, don’t be surprised if Balotelli leaves on a free or for a nominal amount. Those at Anfield would say one thing to the Molineux faithful though – all the best!
