Fantasy Football Hints & Tips – Gameweek 11

Gameweek 10 was a strange one. The fact that Kane and Coutinho were both ruled out late in the day meant that many FPL managers were left with some expensive no-shows in their squads. Some opted to use their wildcards or their Free Hit (if they still had them) to remedy this, but the uncertainty over Man City’s starting line-up made this a risky tactic. Sure enough, Sergio Aguero didn’t play a single minute and Gabriel Jesus failed to make the most of his chance. Then again, maybe you had Sead Kolasinac…more on him later.

In Gameweek 11, we have a ‘Super Sunday’ deserving of its name (the less said about last week’s offering, the better), as Man City play host to Arsenal and Man Utd face off against Chelsea in two heavyweight clashes.

The gameweek’s fixtures are as follows:

Saturday 4th November
Stoke vs Leicester (12:30)
Huddersfield vs West Brom (15:00)
Newcastle vs Bournemouth (15:00)
Southampton vs Burnley (15:00)
Swansea vs Brighton (15:00)
West Ham vs Liverpool (17:30)

Sunday 5th November
Spurs vs Crystal Palace (12:00)
Man City vs Arsenal (14:15)
Chelsea vs Man Utd (16:30)
Everton vs Watford (16:30)

Acca Tips have picked our team of 11 players you should be considering for this gameweek:

Goalkeeper

David de Gea – £5.7m

David de Gea

Sure, Man Utd are away at Chelsea on Sunday, but you only have to look at Mourinho’s approach to the big games to see why we’re recommending the Spaniard. The ultra-defensive approach may not be pretty, but it certainly gets results, and you can bet Mourinho will set up to frustrate his former club.

Defenders

Sead Kolasinac – £6.0m

kolasinac

We certainly don’t expect Arsenal to keep a clean sheet at the Etihad on Sunday, but clean sheets are not what Sead Kolasinac all about. The Bosnian is an attacking threat in his wing-back role, exemplified by his goal and assist against Swansea last week. As is their wont, Man City will attack in droves, which will likely leave plenty of space for the likes of Kolasinac to exploit.

Jan Vertonghen – £6.0m

Vertonghen

This one is more about clean sheets than attacking returns. Although Crystal Palace have made some improvements of late (it couldn’t have got much worse, let’s face it), they have still only managed four goals all season. Meanwhile, Tottenham have the third best defensive record in the Premier League, and with Toby Alderweireld injured and the uncertainty over Ben Davies’ gametime, Jan Vertonghen is your best bet as a sure starter in the Spurs backline.

Jamaal Lascelles – £4.7m

Lascelles

Although Jamaal Lascelles didn’t deliver the clean sheet we hoped for after featuring him in our selection last week, we are keeping faith owing to the fact that Newcastle, who are unbeaten at home in the league since the opening day of the season, face off against lowly Bournemouth in gameweek 11, who have only netted six times in 10 games so far.

Midfielders

Leroy Sane – £8.7m

leroy sane

Talk about a player in form, Leroy Sane has been absolutely bossing it lately. His pace is striking fear into the hearts of many a Premier League defender, and he currently has more FPL points (71) than any other player by some distance. Although the risk of rotation with Pep Guardiola is always present, the rewards are surely too great to ignore when it comes to the rapid German winger.

Dele Alli – £9.3m

Dele Alli 4

Dele Alli is having a funny old season. He keeps threatening to catch fire here and there but then he goes off the boil for a few games. Almost certainly his best performance of the season came in Spurs’ magnificent win over Real Madrid in Wednesday evening’s Champions League clash, a match in which he scored twice. With Palace at home in gameweek 11, now could be the time the Englishman goes on a run.

Mohamed Salah – £9.2m

Salah1

Although his penalty miss against Huddersfield disappointed many FPL managers last week, Mohamed Salah did go some way to redeeming himself by registering a late assist. The Egyptian winger also scored in the Champions League this week, so his appetite for goals is showing no signs of diminishing. He will be the biggest threat to West Ham’s defence on Saturday.

Back Mohamed Salah to score anytime vs West Ham – 11/10 with William Hill

Pascal Gross – £5.8m

gross

This man just keeps on delivering returns for his owners. Pascal Gross has now assisted in Brighton’s last three matches, and is clearly the promoted side’s chief creative force. He now has five assist for the season to add to the two goals he scored in gameweek 4, and will be a danger against Swansea in gameweek 11. Oh, and he’s an absolute bargain.

Forwards

Harry Kane – £12.6m (Accumulator Tips Captain pick)
 Kane large 2

After playing against Real Madrid on Wednesday, it appears that Harry Kane’s hamstring injury was but a short-term affliction, and so he is destined to lead the line once more against Crystal Palace on Sunday. He remains the top scorer in the Premier League on eight goals, and it is a good bet that he will add to that tally this weekend.

Back Harry Kane to score first vs Crystal Palace – 19/10 with Ladbrokes

Jamie Vardy – £8.6m

Vardy 30

Jamie Vardy has been quietly doing his business for Leicester this season, and is in fact only surpassed by four other forwards in terms of FPL points. With two of those (Morata and Lukaku) seemingly out of form, it brings Vardy to the forefront of our thinking. He scored in Claude Puel’s first game in charge in gameweek 10, and he should be considered for your FPL teams given that he is facing a Stoke side who concede an average of two goals a game in the Premier League this season

Sergio Aguero – £11.8m (Accumulator Tips Vice-captain pick)

Aguero

We don’t have a crystal ball into Pep Guardiola’s mind, but what we will say is this; Gabriel Jesus has failed to score in his last four matches for Man City, whilst Sergio Aguero will be on a high after becoming the club’s all-time highest goalscorer midweek, so we think the tide favours Aguero to start the heavyweight clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

Reminder! The Gameweek 11 deadline is 11:30 on 04/11/17
